OUR APPROACH

Current roles:

Who We Are:

We are Sheffield’s community arts organisation specialising in visual arts.

Our Mission

is to inspire and nurture an artistic community. Through local partnerships we provide free and excellent opportunities to participate in visual arts experiences to underserved communities in Sheffield. We celebrate creativity and connections.

Our Values:

  • Creative – we deliver with creativity at the core to inspire and celebrate our communities.

  • Inclusive – we strive to reach people from different backgrounds and experiences, representing Sheffield and all it has to offer. Our approach is considered, co-produced and inclusive to support our communities to be involved in the organisation at every level.

  • Collaborative we value collaboration and partnership working at the core of everything we do. We work in partnership with grass roots organisations, combining our knowledge and expertise to deliver joint projects which achieve stronger outcomes than either partner could achieve alone.

  • Locally rooted – we are part of the fabric of creativity within Sheffield, serving and working alongside our communities to drive real change for individuals and at community level.

  • Engaging – we listen, learn and respond to community needs. We strive to work together with our artists, partners and communities creating meaningful and engaging projects and workshops.

  • Connecting- from delivery in community settings to supporting artists and volunteers, we create opportunity to network, connect and create long lasting relationships.

Our Vision

is that every person in Sheffield has equitable access and opportunity to participate in visual arts experiences, which builds confidence, pride and reduces social isolation.

What We Do:

We work across the city with people of all ages and backgrounds where creativity is needed the most. All our work is free for those taking part; we work in partnership with every project connecting with the organisations rooted in communities who can support and represent the needs of local people.

We specialise in visual arts projects and workshops; from weekly sessions for families in local libraries to intergenerational projects in care home settings.

Our Programmes:

  • Children and Families: Fun, imaginative learning opportunities for children and families in local community spaces and in partnership with local services.

  • In the Community: Reflective, creative and connecting projects for adults of all ages. We bring together our core partners and community groups, from across the city to explore a social issue that matters to them. This also includes intergenerational projects.

  • At Home: From creativity packs sent home after workshops to online "how to" videos we also provide opportunities to get creative outside of our workshop settings.

  • In the City: Through our annual conference, our CEO's role in networking and lobbying and connecting people through public events we are fully involved in developing and contributing to the creative sector in Sheffield.

  • Artists: We nurture and elevate artists at all stages of their career. From volunteer opportunities to our paid workshop assistant programme, we offer training, mentoring and networking to nurture our city's creative talent.

Who we work with:

We work in communities that are underrepresented within the arts sector including but not exclusively to children and families facing economic deprivation and adults accessing services supporting their physical, learning or mental health needs. If we can support a group, community or individual, who wouldn't traditionally get the opportunity, to create connections and ignite their imaginations we want to be there! See here for more details on how to partner with us.
