"WHAT A LOVELY ACTIVITY TO DO ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON WITH MY KIDS. I HAVEN’T SEEN THEM SIT AND CONCENTRATE ON SOMETHING FOR SO LONG FOR SUCH A LONG TIME…THANK YOU."
Ignite Imaginations aims to make every Sheffield community a creative place.
We deliver creative workshops and events that give people the chance to participate, be creative and imaginative, and develop new creative skills.
We work with local communities to help people use the power of arts and imagination to address the things that matter to them – whether health, education or social.
We bring inspirational art and culture directly to people and places that would otherwise miss out. We present community, participatory and artist-led work in local neighbourhoods and unusual spaces via exhibitions, performances and other creative events.
We work across the city and its many communities to encourage and support talented creative people in Sheffield who would otherwise be missed by mainstream arts development. We run programmes that identify talented makers and other creatives with lived experience and provide training, support and access to career development.
We specialise in visual arts and creative writing events and workshops; from weekly sessions for families in local libraries to art installations designed by the community. Through our professional artists and project coordination we work locally with partners to reach people of all ages and backgrounds, bringing creative opportunity to those who rarely get the chance.
We celebrate community and help people connect and work together to achieve the positive changes they need and want. We value creativity, imagination and participation and believe in the power of communities working together.
We want anybody involved in an Ignite Imaginations event to find us:
Creative – we deliver to the highest quality, with experienced artists able to inspire and celebrate our communities.
Inclusive – we strive to reach people from different backgrounds and experiences, representing Sheffield and all it has to offer.
Responsive – we adapt quickly to changing circumstances within projects and addressing developing needs.
Collaborative – we work closely with partner organisations who know their communities, combining our knowledge and expertise to deliver joint projects which achieve stronger outcomes than either partner could achieve alone.
Locally rooted – we are part of the fabric of creativity within Sheffield, serving and working alongside our communities to drive real change together.
We work with all people and communities in Sheffield. We try to have a balance in our projects so we have plenty of open access opportunities for anybody to get involved, as well as targeted work focused on people facing particular barriers and those who would otherwise miss out. We work with lots of community partners who know and specialise in their communities, including work with vulnerable children & young people, adults and families facing social isolation and loneliness and other people under-represented in the arts.
We connect the local and the global, helping people at local level put creativity and imagination to work to address challenges.
We offer a creative and friendly atmosphere to explore things that matter to the communities we work in; from creating art journals to understand “What Makes me, me?” to developing a ceramic art installation that showcases what the past year has been like for the area.
Participants in Ignite projects are inspired, challenged and encouraged to let their imaginations run free. With over 17 years’ experience the organisation and our experienced professional artists work alongside partners and participants to curate and coordinate meaningful and inspiring workshops and projects.
