THE STORY OF MOSBOROUGH HISTORY GROUP
Mosborough history group on Facebook started in February 2015
Like all things there was reason why? A so called Sheffield community table on the moor had a map where people offered there skills by sticking pins in.
I asked where Mosborough was only to see it pinned under the tableand the guy saying "o there wasnt enough roomthen asked "is Mosborough Sheffield"? Since 1967 I replied walking off deciding I'd do something about it.
I set up the Facebook site 2 days later with my sister . At first things were slow, we grew by publicising the group repainting an unused council notice board the council agreed to let us use.and share as a community asset.
Getting a local magazine the Doorsteppa to give us a free advert. Friends , word of mouth after 3 months we only had 50 members, Gaining menbers with links to other local groups we suddenly grew!

As we reached 400 we decided that the older generation were excluded through lack of IT skills or computer savvy or interest in them. Mosborough History MEETING Group was needed to bridge the gap.
Monthly meetings were discussed to gain there knowledge, memories, and stories.we planned a committee using skills members had to help.
The group started in January 2016 meeting monthly every first Wednesday of each month at St Marks church.
We would need funds,a programme of events, a way to collect and store memories, photos and stories.
Then I met panni passed to us by Andy Whitehouse and the Drink Wise Age Well charity.
Panni attended a meeting ,we discused a need to promote the group a banner! Insurance so we could have a display stand at Crystal Peaks shopping centre requiring public liability insurance. Ignite Imaginations. And South Yorkshire housing kindly sponsored these. Both groups fed information to each other as we set up subsciptions.for mhmg, speakers, trips memory bank tapes.listings on other sites etc etc helped grow interest.
A year on we have visits, speakers, social events, fundraiseing stalls at local fairs etc
