Ignite Imaginations is working in collaboration with Compassionate Sheffield who

are working with communities to make Sheffield a more compassionate city.

Circle of Life Invite (v1).jpg

We all celebrate and remember life in different ways.

Ignite Imaginations and Compassionate Sheffield wanted to create a project that explored how Sheffield and its many communities marked life’s major events including the end of life. We recognised there are personal and communal rituals, ceremonies and traditions that we wanted to learn about.

Through funding from Compassionate Sheffield and Hospice UK, Ignite Imaginations were able to work with 5 community groups across the city, exploring these life events; sharing stories and emotions whilst getting creative along the way. Our professional artists and workshop assistants worked with the groups to use their imaginations and creative skills to explore the themes across 5 workshops. The artwork displayed at the community art exhibition is their way of communicating to you how they celebrate the full Circle of Life.

For this project, we’re working with some recruited Workshop Facilitators, as well as our established artist pool. We appreciate that gaining experience facilitating workshops can be difficult, as well as taking the plunge to be self-employed or even saying one is an artist. So for this project we invited applications from individuals no matter what stage of their career- and we are pleased to offer a personalised support journey including mentoring from Ignite Imaginations staff and artists and paid additional training throughout.
