What work can I submit?

Guidelines:

  • Your work can be mixed media, drawing, painting or 3D , on any subject or theme.

  • You might have created this work on your own or together at school or with friends.

  • Artwork can be accepted on paper, canvas or thin card and should be unframed. If you want to mount your work (card surround/frame) this will be accepted.

  • Maximum size A2.

  • 3D work must be of a size and weight to be displayed on a table or plinth and no wider than 1metre. If to be stood on the ground it should be sturdy and be able to stand unsupported.

  • All work should not have any sharp or dangerous elements and should not contain offensive words of images.

  • 1 artwork per person.

  • Collaborative pieces from school/community groups are welcome.

  • ​Work created during Healthy Holidays activities is encouraged.

  • All artworks will reviewed to ensure they are suitable for public display.

How do I get involved with my dance, drama or musical talents?

If you would like to perform we will be running a programme on the Thursday 31st August and Friday 1st September 10-2pm. We welcome individual and group performances.

Arts Activity Days:

Join us for lots of FREE creative fun in the Winter Garden:

  • Thursday 31st August 10-12 noon or 1-3pm 

  • Friday 1st September 10-12 noon or 1-3pm

Join in with our dance, drama and art offers across 2 hours.

These activity days are open to any family that would like to just drop in and get involved. The same activity will be repeated at each 2 hour session. You can stay as long or as little as you like within the 2 hours. All children MUST be accompanied by an adult; this is a public place and we will not take responsibility for any person taking part.

​

For children from Reception to Year 11 who receive benefits-based free school meals please complete a booking form so we can provide you with a FREE healthy lunch pack or voucher between 12-1pm on the day that you plan to attend.

Who are Sheffield Healthy Holidays?

Sheffield Healthy Holidays is all about trying activities and eating food that does us good!  Sheffield children and young people in receipt of  benefits related-free school meals can now choose from a huge range of  fun free activities happening across the city throughout the holidays – all completely FREE!

How do I enter my artwork?

Step 1: Make sure your work is safe to transport; you could wrap it in bubble wrap, put it in an envelope and place it between two bits of card. Whatever you decide ensure it protects your work.

Step 2a: Drop you work at The Moor Market, 77 The Moor, Sheffield S1 4PF on the Saturday 19th, Monday 21st or Tuesday 22nd August between 10-4pm. Find us at the Eyre Street entrance, near the cafe seating area.

If you can’t drop your work off at this location or these dates please get in touch with us at enquiries@igniteimaginations.org.uk or call 01142686813 and we can make other arrangements.

 

Step 2b: When dropping your work off complete an entry slip. This can be downloaded here or there will be paper copies to complete at the drop off point.

If submitting a collaborative piece please remember to list of all the artists' names so we can display them correctly.

What happens next?

The exhibition will run from 3pm Tuesday 29th August to 3pm Tuesday 5th September in the Winter Garden. Come down and see your artwork, bring your friends and family. The Winter Garden is open 8am-8pm (10-5pm Sundays).

How do I get my artwork back?

Please indicate on your entry slip, which option you'd prefer to get your artwork back:

  • Collect between 3pm- 6pm on the Tuesday 5th September at the Winter Garden.

  • Return in a stamped self-addressed envelope I have included (I have included a stamp that covers the weight of the artwork).

  • Collect from The Moor Market, 77 The Moor, Sheffield S1 4PF on the Friday 8th or Saturday 9th September 10-4pm. Find us at the Eyre Steet entrance by the café seating area

Please note: any work not collected by the 9th September will be recycled.

Who are Ignite Imaginations?

Ignite Imaginations is a community arts charity based in Sheffield and we are the lead on this project. We want to ignite imaginations and create connections. We believe in taking people on a journey to unlock their imaginations through working with professional artists, using quality materials and experiencing innovative creative activities. We work across the city with people of all ages and backgrounds where creativity is needed the most.

Young Artists Open Exhibition
Tuesday 29th August – Tuesday 5th September

Winter Garden, Surrey Street, S1 2HH 

 

Free, open exhibition for anyone aged 4-19 years living in Sheffield. 

 

Join us for a massive celebration of creativity; we believe everyone is an artist and we want to show off the talent and skill we have in Sheffield.

 

We will accept work that is mixed media, drawing, painting or 3D. You might have created this work on your own or together at school or with friends.
 
Please send us work that you feel proud of, that you really want others to see.

 

Take Part:

If you want to showcase your dance, drama, spoken word or musical talents then you can still get involved! We would like to invite to you to be part of our programme on the 31st August or 1st September. See the below for more details.

The Winter Garden is open 8am-8pm (10-5pm Sundays). The exhibition will run from 3pm Tuesday 29th August to 3pm Tuesday 5th September.

​

This is an exhibition open to all and we really welcome work created over the Summer holidays during Healthy Holiday workshops.

 

This project is a collaboration between Ignite Imaginations, Sheffield City Council and Sheffield Healthy Holidays.
