WE ARE ALL MAKERS

We are all makers image with cogs

The We Are All Makers programme aimed to work with adults that have not had the time or means to develop their creative skills, project ideas or ambitions, to develop and lead their own creative community project in Sheffield.

Funded by Arts Council England and Manor and Castle Development Trust and delivered by Ignite Imaginations, the project was delivered between October 2021 and July 2022 across Sheffield.

Weekly workshops, led by experienced practitioners from the Ignite Imagination team, Emma and Lu, used creative techniques to enhance participants’ personal development, confidence and project-management skills. Each participant was then paired up with an Ignite Imaginations professional artist, to offer one-to-one mentoring, support and tailored advice on a personalised development programme. Including, work placements and practical experience to prepare individuals to achieve their goals.

The We Are All Makers project succeeded in developing and trialling a new approach to supporting adults who had faced barriers to achieving their creative goals. Through a programme of creative workshops, mentoring and practical experience it has created a framework that uses creative arts methods and community connections to help individuals enhance their self-confidence and social skills to inspire creativity in their communities. Despite the ongoing challenges presented by Covid, the majority of participants completed
the programme.

Evaluations illustrate how individuals gained in self-confidence, overcame personal barriers, and gained practical experience which in all cases has resulted in participants wanting to develop their ideas further. Watch this space as we'll be sharing some of the participants' stories soon.
