The beauty of the 'Create To Connect' Challenges is that they are designed to inspire everyday creativity, you can choose to spend 10 minutes or the whole day! We believe passionately that even when we don’t feel creative, having a go can improve our mood, here is an observation from one of our artists during a creative session, “One girl could not think of any emotions at the start for her mood check and said she didn’t want to do the activity. By the end she did a whole collage on ‘happiness’ and said she would take it home and frame it to remember feeling happy”.
In response to the current situation, Create to Connect is a national month of challenges for each day of May, specifically designed to keep communities connected, curious and creative in uncertain times. Ignite Imaginations are delighted to be a partner for one of the challenges that have been set in collaboration with 31 different partners in total including schools, libraries, museums, community groups, care homes and more. It is a celebration of some of the brilliant creative work happening around the country and an invitation to do, think and share alongside them.
One of the great things about the challenge is that it is so simple to get involved:
DO: The activities are easy, free to take part in, and any materials you might need will be easy to find. You could be asked to think about a word, make something, to invent a story, or create a memory map of your local area. Anything’s possible.
THINK: Once you’d had a go at a challenge or activity, we’d love you to reflect on your experience. How did it make you feel? Did it provoke any thoughts or feelings?
SHARE: Showcase your work by uploading an image of it along with any reflections here on social media, tagging 64 Million Artists and using the #CreateToConnect
You can choose whether to do a challenge each day, or dip in and out if you see something that inspires you – just go with the flow.
