MOZART AND ME
Mozart and Me, is a collaborative project bringing together professional artists with community organisations, to develop creative responses to Mozart’s compositions, to mark 230 years since his death, on 5th December 1791.
Participants from Sheffield, Barnsley and Rotherham, range from primary aged children, adults with learning difficulties, adults with autism and those in recovery. Our artists are working collaboratively with 12 groups to bring a unique opportunity to the participants.
Each group will work with a visual and performance artist, listen to Mozart's work and through 3 workshops develop a creative response. These responses will come together at a county wide celebration event and be showcased alongside the music in February 2022. Expect songs, paintings, poems and short drama performances; the groups are guided by our artists to develop a response in any way they feel relevant.
A key feature of the project is collaboration; the artists coming together to plan, the music to inspire and the creative responses of the groups. We aim to increase skills and knowledge through the project as well introducing Mozart to new audiences. In addition, the project aims to offer connectivity and creativity in times of isolation and give a sense of togetherness.
