Laura has over 10 years experience in a variety of disciplines across arts, culture and communities—specialising in film, theatre and music. She believes strongly that everyone should have access to culture in the places that they live and is passionate about connecting people in shared, inspiring and memorable experiences that are as accessible and inclusive as possible.

After studying Drama at the University of Bristol, she began volunteering at the Cube Microplex (a social, non-profit, collective, cinema & arts venue.) Here, a love for working collaboratively with fantastic people was shaped: from working on the bar and tearing tickets, to producing events, making strange music and sculpting papier-mâché mountains on Sunday afternoons.

In 2009, Laura headed back up north to coordinate the volunteer team at the Sensoria Festival of Film and Music in Sheffield—receiving a brilliant schooling in the running of innovative cross platform events for the people of Sheffield and beyond.

After Sensoria, she joined the Showroom Cinema—producing audience development programmes and education projects. Concentrating on communities, this included programming young cinema and lifelong learning at the Showroom, as well running film programmes, special events and festivals with a specific focus on audiences.

Laura is a big fan of making things in unusual spaces, folk music, camp fires, choirs and brass bands, tomato growing, swimming outside, ceilidhs and clifftop paths.
