KIM BEVAN

Born: Chesterfield

Studied: BA (Hons) Fine Art at Northampton University; MA Fine Art at Leeds University and PGCE at Sheffield Hallam University

Recent Project/Show: I have just finished a 10 month residency at Hot Bed Press print-makers where I created a body of work making three artists books incorporating print -

Listen – Snippets of conversation overheard on the train to and on the streets of Manchester. Twelve letterpress printed sheets that come in a small grey box.

Discarded – Taken from photographs and drawings of chewing gum thrown on the street. Intaglio prints of collagraph, using the plates as covers.

People – A development of ‘Crowd’, drawings from people on trains, in cafes and walking around layered through embossing using collagraphs.

This is currently being exhibited at Hot Bed Press, I have also entered prints into their 20:20 exhibition.

Three words to describe your practice: paper, details, books

What inspires you: looking at the world around me, noticing the little details we so often miss, people, paper and words.
