Arts Council Emergency funding
In these difficult times we are glad to have some good news to share. We are delighted to say that our application for the Arts Council England Covid-19 response funding has been successful. Our proposal, Imagination in Communities, envisions creative and artistic projects with communities in Sheffield during lockdown and beyond. We’ll be building on our existing projects and partnerships to provide people of all ages with the opportunity to respond creatively in the current situation. As ever, we’ll be working with our team of talented freelance artists to provide high-quality artistic experiences.
During the recent period of challenging change we have been much heartened by the support of our partners and funders, the willingness of our artists to work in new ways and the exciting, rapid developments for new and alternative delivery methods. This funding will enable us to do more in different ways to encourage creativity in communities. Thank you Arts Council England!
We continue to work with partners to find the ways that we can continue to ignite imaginations during lockdown. As the government advice on social distancing develops, we hope to be back delivering workshops and events as soon as it is safe to do so. For now we are still working remotely as a team and delivering the following activities:
- Creativity packs for distribution to families unlikely to have full access to the internet
- Online creative workshops for Sheffield Libraries during May half term
- Online creative workshops for Age Better in Sheffield
A Message from our trustees
Alongside so many of you we want to play our part in the arrangements to protect the public's health during the current pandemic. We have decided to cancel all in-person delivery of activities until government advice changes. As part of this, we have committed to paying all artists currently booked for activity in full and encourage others to do the same where possible. Whilst we are taking these steps in recognition that in-person arts workshops are 'non-essential activity', we know that creativity and igniting imaginations are important now more than ever.
We are hugely grateful to our partners and funders for their ongoing support and are working with them to explore potential routes for alternative delivery where possible.
As ever, if you would like to support our work to celebrate and connect communities through art and creativity then you can support us here.
We look forward to getting creative with you in creative ways over the coming months and as ever thank you for your support!
