Recent Project/Show: I recently worked alongside Hoot (an arts and mental health group) on their Going Sane project. Here I was able to spend a couple of months working one day a week alongside a wonderful group of people at Bradford Hospitals Palliative care unit. We created a wide range of artwork over the weeks and I ran a number of different sessions from photography and paper cutting to painting, sound recording and ceramics. All of the work we created inspired our final project, a large hanging glass work for the centre. Each person created a number of their own glass tiles which were brought together using cable to create a larger piece of artwork. The concept behind the project was to explore mental health and encourage discussion and recollection through arts sessions. The group were brilliant and the final glass artwork that they created was fantastic and now has pride of place in their new conservatory space. Following on from this I was commissioned by Hoot to produce a piece of artwork depicting mental health and aimed at challenging peoples views. I ended up creating a series of artworks exploring different areas of mental health.
What inspires you? People, memories and places. I am inspired by the stories of those around me and the history yet to be discovered.
